| A
musical extravaganza held between June 5th and 23rd the Festival
is becoming one of the social events of the year. Using some of
the formal rooms of the Palace and the extensive grounds the music
ranges from opera to pop via jazz and the music of Cuba. If you
are a corporate guest the menu has been designed exclusively by
Gordon Ramsay. It is the kind of event that requires arrival in
a luxury, liveried chauffeur driven Mercedes or Lexus and, if
you are not part of the corporate crowd, a sumptuous picnic hamper
with chilled champagne would be a perfect compliment to an enjoyable
evening.
Hampton Court Palace provides the perfect backdrop to the Festival
and one feels its founder Henry VIII would have approved. The
State Apartments are the venue for formal dining with the Palace
Gardens the ideal location to savour an evening picnic.
The entertainments this year include José Carreras, Brian
Ferry, American singing sensation Josh Groban making his Festival
debut, the fabulous Tom Jones, the Buena Vista Social Club, soprano
Lesley Garrett, Van Morrison, Jools Holland with Special Guest
Lulu and, for lovers of classical music, Julian Lloyd Webber and
Richard Hickox.
While you may not be able to return to London in the Royal Barge
as sovereigns have over the centuries, to relax in the comfort
and luxury of your chauffeured Mercedes Viano, S Class E Class,
Lexus LS430 or Minibus is a fitting end to an enjoyable evening’s
entertainment.
